Named Entrance Awards Application Form
These awards are administered by the Admissions Office and are available to new students applying from high school. Questions about this application or entrance awards should be directed to the Admissions Office (entranceawards@smu.ca).
 

Instructions
  • To be considered for Named Entrance Awards applicants must complete Part 1.  
  • To be considered for Named Entrance Awards as well as Bursaries and Awards applicants must complete Part 1 and Part 2.  
  • To be considered for the Presidential, Santamarian and Sobey National Innovator Scholarships   Scholarships applicants must complete Part 1 and Part 3. 
The deadline for submitting this application is March 1.

Requirements
  • Completed Named Entrance Awards Application Form (this form)
  • Completed Undergraduate Application including fee, transcript and supporting documents.
  • Letter of recommendation sent from high school Principal, Guidance Counsellor, or Teacher. (Attach letter of recommendation at bottom of this application  or have referee send directly to entranceawards@smu.ca)
  • Resume, which should include such things as involvement in community service, participation in student government, athletic achievement, extra-curricular activities and volunteer and/or paid work. (Attach resume at bottom of this application.)

Before completing this form, please read through to ensure you have prepared all required supporting documents (e.g. high school transcript, resume with cover letter, letter of recommendation, etc.). Word Doc and Adobe PDF files are preferred.

Part Three
Presidential / Presidential International Baccalaureate / Santamarian Scholarships
 
The Presidential / Presidential International Baccalaureate / Santamarian Scholarships are available to both domestic and international students. These are awarded on basis of:
  • A 95 % average
  • A 750-word essay based on your community involvement, contribution to school life and plans for the future.

Please ensure that you include a letter of recommendation and resume with this application.

Sobey National Innovator Scholarship (Sobey Innovators)

The Sobey National Innovator Scholarship (Sobey Innovators) is only available to Canadian and Permanent Resident Students. These are awarded on the basis of: 
  • Acceptance to the Bachelor of Commerce at Saint Mary’s University
  • A 90% average or IB Diploma score of 36
  • A 750-word essay based on your community involvement, contribution to school life and plans for the future.

Please ensure that you include a letter of recommendation and resume with this application.

To be considered for any of these awards you must submit this application and all supporting documents to the Admissions Office by the March 1 deadline. If you are awarded a Named Entrance Award, the University may share your name and the name of the award with the donor and other parties (e.g. high school counselors). By submitting this application, you consent to the disclosure of this information.
